Painted Woman in an Off-the-Shoulder Coat

Painted woman in an off-the-shoulder coat.

This woman is actually on the runway.

She is wearing a slinky dress, with heels, and a coat that is off-the-shoulder.

She is carrying a small handbag.

I love the entire outfit - especially the trendy off-the-shoulder coat, which looks very chic.

Painting a Woman on an Off-the-Shoulder Coat - The Process (Video Below)

As with the other images, watercolor is the main medium.

The hair, lips, eyeshadow, and necklace are acrylic, and the eyes are colored pencil.

The woman in the original photo had a blonde updo, but I decided to give this model flowing red hair.

I purposely painted each clothing item a different color.

This color scheme may not work in real life, but somehow, it blends well on paper.

The sketch is definitely the most difficult part.

I don't always feel up to this task, as it can be tedious, and time consuming.

Still, I push forward.

Once the sketch is complete, I get to experience the joy of painting it.

This is the fun part for sure.

Here is a short video of the painting process.

Painted Woman in an Off-the-Shoulder Coat - A Fashion Show

Most people enjoy a good fashion show.

The lights, the atmosphere, and of course, the fashion.

We look forward to seeing the flamboyant outfits: dresses, skirts, pants, tops, outerwear, and high heels.

We determine in our minds whether we would wear this clothing.

If so, we are able to imagine ourselves draped in these fashion styles.

I too, go through this venture as I am creating the images.

Would I wear this?

Is this my style?

Maybe I would choose a different pair of heels, or another style of handbag.

Our imaginations take us down the runway.

Painted Woman in an Off-the-Shoulder Coat - Reflecting Back

Today, as I draw, and paint, I can't help but to reflect back to drawing as a child.

I remember sitting at the kitchen table with a sharpened pencil, and a piece of notebook paper.

I remember wanting to see my drawings progress, but not seeing it happen.

I never envisioned that my skill level would be at the point it is now.

Many times, I sit and stare at my work out of pure fascination.

I am amazed at what God has done.
