Painting a woman in an elegant dress.
I was drawn to this dress because of the way the fabric draped the floor.
I was excited to capture this look with the pencil.
I was also intrigued with the ruffled flowers on the top half of the dress.
The process for the painting started with a drawing.
I drew the entire ensemble, and saved the facial features and hair for last.
Before getting started, I had a piece of paper, a pencil, an eraser, watercolor, acrylic, leather paint (just in case), colored pencils, paint brushes, and a cup of water in front of me.
After drawing the facial features, I painted the skin with watercolor, or a colored pencil.
I tried to think of different hairstyles, and colors for the hair.
I used acrylic paint, or colored pencil for the hair.
At times, I got inspiration from photos for different hairstyles.
I also came up with some hairstyles on my own.
I chose bright colors for the dress and flowers, and made sure that each dress was unique.
The eyeshadow and lipstick were a must, and only added to the glam.
I preferred to use eyeshadow that fell into the blue/green shade.
With the lipstick, I opted for pinkish/red shades.
I used acrylic paint, or colored pencil for both the eyeshadow and lipstick.
The eyelashes were created with an ink pen.
I was painting on regular white paper.
The dried paint would have looked differently if I were painting on canvas, or textured paper.
This woman is obviously on her way to a gala event.
Perhaps she has been invited to a black tie sit down dinner.
Maybe she is attending a formal evening wedding.
She may be the keynote speaker at a fancy affair.
She may be seated at the head table for an honored dignitary.
Or, it could be that she's just a fashion lover, and likes to look nice wherever she goes.
She may be the fashion girl that inspires what others wear, and how they style their hair.
I'll let your imagination be free.
