Painting a woman in cargo pants and a hoodie.
I really like streetwear, and it is fun to draw.
I enjoy drawing the ripped baggy pants, and the many pockets.
The hoodies are enjoyable as well, with the bunched sleeves.
The woman is usually wearing boots with a block heel, or some type of athletic shoe.
Here is a video that shows the art progression of one of the paintings. (I made a mistake on the eyes).
I admit that I got caught up in the drawing, and forgot to keep taking photos.
As a result, the progression skips a few steps.
I decided to leave the hairstyle for each painted image exactly as it was on the original photo.
Instead, I changed the color of the hair each time.
I also changed the color of the clothes.
Three of the images were created with colored pencil only.
The rest of the images are a combination of colored pencil and watercolor.
I like using both of these mediums.
They both have advantages.
The colored pencil is easier to control.
The color may appear darker, or lighter, depending on how hard one presses down on the pencil when coloring.
The watercolor bleeds, and may be darker in some areas, and lighter in others.
Both mediums offer a palette of pastels to choose from.
I was not able to portray the eyes exactly as I had hoped.
Even still, I am pleased with how the overall image looks.
As I imagine myself wearing these clothes, I feel cozy, and comfy.
The fabric is loose fitting, and my skin is not being pinched anywhere.
I have lots of pockets to put my belongings in.
I would feel good about wearing this outfit to run my errands, or meet a friend for lunch.
Below are unfinished paintings that I photographed. I completed some of the paintings, and trashed others because of mistakes that I made.
