Painted woman in an off the shoulder dress.
I was drawn to this dress because it is off the shoulder, and because it has a lot of ruffles.
I also like the fact that it is fitted.
I painted some of the dresses a solid color, and some have a design.
The color schemes are red and white; blue and white; pink and green; and blue and gold.
These colors coincide with the colors of four black American sororities.
I am not a member of a sorority, but I am paying homage to these sororities.
The medium that I used is watercolor, colored pencil, and/or acrylic on paper.
I have to admit that I had to do some of these over, or make adjustments after I thought I had finished.
As the artist, I know when a work is not my best, and I have work until I am completely satisfied.
I can now say that I did my best on each of these images.
I love the hair: afros, afro puffs, locs, and a bun.
I never tire of creating hair in any image.
I would venture to say that this is my favorite part.
And then there are the polka dots.
In my opinion, they add a nice touch to any outfit.
There are not polka dots on every dress because I wanted the dresses to be unique.
The ruffles are very feminine and dainty, and they were fun to paint.
The big earrings are a great accessory.
They make the outfit look a bit more fancy.
I really like the slim fit of the dress.
It shows the figure, without revealing too much.
In my imagination, she may be headed to a fancy dinner event where there will be similarly dressed women at her table.
It may be a charity event for her sorority.
Or, maybe a wedding reception.
She may be going to an upscale restaurant with a group of friends.
Maybe she is going out on a date, along with other couples.
Wherever she may be going, she is dressed for the occassion.
