Painting a woman in a sleeveless dress.
I drew the sketch from an online photo about four months ago, and recently painted it.
I was intrigued with the dress, and imagined that the painted image would be beautiful.
A high-low dress is a special kind of dress that is short in the front and long in the back.
In this case, it is short on one side, and long on the other.
I started by sketching the lines of the woman as I was viewing the photo.
Since the dress is sleeveless, I drew her arms and shoulders carefully.
I enjoyed showing how the dress fit around her neck and chest.
I then drew the shorter part of the dress on one side, and the longer part on the other side.
I focused on the lines and flowing curves in the dress.
The flowing curves help the dress look soft and real.
I also drew the high heeled fancy sandals with straps.
Watercolor worked beautifully on the dress, and captured the sheer, layered look.
When I started painting, I picked bright colors that match the style of the dress.
Each image has a dress that has been painted a different color: pink, red, and yellow, to name a few.
I use a thin brush on the small spaces to hopefully paint within the lines.
I painted the skin three different shades.
I used watercolor for the brown and bronze tones, and colored pencil for the lighter shade.
There are a variety of hairstyles in the collection:ponytails, buns, and hair that is loose.
The eyes, lips, and nose are the most challenging parts as it is difficult for me draw them so small.
At times, I add earrings or a bracelet to make the woman look extra stylish (although I didn't this time).
In the end, the picture shows a beautiful woman in a fun and flowing high-low dress.
Staying in the practice of drawing and painting helps me learn about shapes, and colors, and improves my overall skills.
It also lets me use my imagination.
I like creating pictures like this because every dress and every woman can look different and special.
